Customer: I lost my car keys, need a new key but don't know what the vat # ***** ***** they key

Customer: No I need a whole new key
JA: OK! The Chevy Mechanic will help you with the diagnostics so you are sure to get this fixed right. Is there anything else important you think the Chevy Mechanic should know about your Chevy?

I'm sorry you are having problems with your vehicle. I will try to help.I'm a full time mechanic and have been a mechanic for over 20 yrs and I work part-time here on JustAnswer to help you and others repair their own vehicles, and I get credited by your ratings.. So before leaving the site make sure and leave me a rating. You can still reply to me as many times as neeed, even after the rating.. I will need for you to be my hands and eyes since I'm not there. So have you tried going to the dealer with your vin #? They can look up the key resistance on the chip and cut you a new one based on the vin. They are the only one who can tell you the resistance value of the chip becouse of laws enacted to prevent theft. Also they will have to verify identity and ownership.
Let me know if this helps. Thanks
