Chevrolet Impala LS: 2010 impala has clicking noise in dash

2010 impala has clicking noise in dash at time of door unlock or key startup, goes away after few minutes, adjusting air direction control stops an then continues

Are you changing mode control (vent, floor, defrost) to get the clicking to stop? Does changing temperature control or recirculate make the clicking stop as well?

changing the mode control stops the noise for a second and then it starts again like a *shutter*

This would indicate that the mode control actuator (electric motor) is stripped internally and needs to be replaced. The procedure for replacement calls for 7.2 hours of labor and removal of the dash. You may be able to access the part by removing the glove box, but not likely. See picture for location.
