Hello,. how are you checking freon? it cant be checked unless ac compressor is in fact kicking in and pumping so,, when you select ac, is the compressor clutch coming on?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
not sure where this question to you came from. Not my question i sent.
I have 2003 chevrolet express van 6.0 mtr.
A/C works fine untill temperature is adjusted.
Wont come back on after temp is adjusted for a couple of hours.
Im a HVAC tech & i checked freon ok.
When it wont come back on the compressor is not on. Pressure switch ok. No power to compressor then.
Dealership says compressor is bad. 1100. to replace compressor.
They said something about heater in compressor bad but compress had to be replaced

If you are an HVAC tech, then you should be comfortable with doing a few checks.

When it's not working, I would be at the AC compressor electrical connector to see that there is power and ground being applied. I don't know what "heater" the dealer is talking about, but this is the place to start.
