Chevrolet Repair Questions? Ask a Chevy Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hello, I will try my best to help you with your concern.
let me see if I have this correct
you have power on the big red wire to the starter but no power to the small wire?
Is there power on that wire when you turn the key to the start position?
do you know if there are any codes in the engine?
first thing to do is trace the circuit back to the fuse/relay panel
in the panel next to the left strut tower, there is a crank relay
find the relay and see if there is a similar relay near by, if there is swap the relays and try to start the vehicle again. If it starts then you have a faulty relay.
if it still doesn't start then we will need to troubleshoot more
check fuse 5 in fuse panel 30 amp make sure that's ok
then pull the relay and see if you have power on one of the terminals all the time
you will also need to check to see if one of the terminals gets ground when turn the key to start
ok lastly one of the terminals should have power on it when the key is turned to start
ok you will need to back track to the ecm and see if there is power coming from there
pin #32 in the ecm harness purple/white wire should have a power signal when turning the key to the start position
no the ecm will need to be programmed,
the ecm has to be programmed at the dealer or a independent shop that has the software needed to program it.. Not every shop is willing to pay the fee needed to obtain the needed software
looks like according to this picture it is under the hood. up by the strut tower? not the greatest picture but here it is
