There is a grinding noise from the front of my '06 impala ss

Customer Question

There is a grinding noise from the front of my '06 impala ss when pressing the gas while in park as well as while driving and sometimes while starting the car. Does not happen at higher speeds that I've noticed. Any help?

hi my name is***** will try and help...Is it coming from the front of the motor by the accessories and pulleys?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'm not really sure. Can't place it. It doesn't sound like it's from any of the top pulleys (alternator, etc). It's definitey in front of me when I'm in the driver's seat.

does it shift normal? hows the tranny fluid? any warning lights on?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No warning lights at all. Shifts smoothly. Transmission fluid was changed recently changed less than 1000 miles ago.

have you tried having a shop diagnose t on a lift?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No... That costs $85 here. Prefered to pay you guys $30 or so first.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It isn't all the time. Often enough to worry though.

we need to narrow down if its from bellhousing or the pulley side

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. I'll do that next time it happens and get back with you. It isn't doing it now.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
If it's from the bell housing, is it probably the flexplate?
