My 2000 Silverado 5.3L acts like it is starving when you go

Customer Question

My 2000 Silverado 5.3L acts like it is starving for gas when you go to pullout and can barely get to 30mph under full acceleration, occasionally it will backfire when this is happening too. However the problem goes away after the truck has ran a couple of minutes and is fine until you shut the truck off and restart it and then the problem begins all over again. There is no check engine light on when this is happening either. Any suggestions?

Hi there, I am Cam. Can I get your first name?

Have you looked into the fuel system? Fuel filter? Fuel pump?

Is there fuel in the small vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator. If so that means the fuel pressure regulator.

My name is***** have checked the vacuum hose to the regulator and there was no fuel in it. I inspected it for cracks and didn't find any, It does have good suction. I have not checked the filter or the pump yet

Ok, first take the fuel filter off and replace it. Its likely overdue.
