I am looking at a 2004 GMC Yukon XL Denali. The SERVICE RIDE

Customer Question

I am looking at a 2004 GMC Yukon XL Denali. The SERVICE RIDE CONTROL warning is on. I am wondering what the range of costs would be to have this looked at and fixed? Also, can I tow a 4,000 lb. boat with this warning light on? Looking for some advice before I decide to buy or not.

Welcome, I am Chris (aka-Moose)

The diag fee at a dealer to figure out what is wrong through a scan tool and testing, is about 95$.

The repair cost parts/labor can range from as low as 150$ for a height sensor to as much as about 900$ for a module replacement.

On the towing question. If the ride height is correct and the vehicle is not sagging or swaying then yes you could tow with this warning on, its not optimum or approved by GM but you could.

In case you did not know, many air ride car owners often opt for a spring suspension conversion, which often comes out cheaper to install compared to repair and there are no more issues after that.

As mentioned in my first response, I would stay in contact with you. I've noticed you have not rated the post. So I assume you were not pleased with my help. I hate that you have spent money to get an answer but left not happy. Can you tell me why, or can I help more. If its more help you need just reply and we can pick up where we left off.
