This is controlled by the body control module which goes bad very often, checked at the shift solenoid itself to see if you have power if you do not then go back and make sure that the brake light switch is working properly and using a scan tool check to see if you have a brake signal going too the module, if you do then most likely you have a faulty body control module ..you can remove the module and try squeezing it or tapping on it to see if it will begin functioning. You can also try doing a complete system reset by disconnecting the battery and touching the battery cables together for 30 seconds this will completely discharge and reset all the modules in the vehicle then reattach the battery and see if the problem still persists
