will it be fine in the forward gears ?

it will start to move in reverse then you try to accelerate and the truck revs up and will not move in reverse ? or it makes a noise then will not move ?

will it do this in 4HI ?

ok if it will do this in 2HI and 4HI and it will jump out of reverse and when it does the rear drive shaft is not spinning at all the odds are something inside the transmission or transfer case is physically causing this issue

the best action will be to remove the transfer case and be sure nothing inside is damaged or a broken snap ring if the transfer case checks out good the transmission will need to come out and be torn down to inspect the reaction carrier and the final drive sun and planet gears but in a nut shell this is a physical issue in the transfer case or the transmission causing this issue
