Hi there, I am Cam. Can I get your name please while I pull up information on that code?

Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

Do you have a hand vacuum pump to do some testing with?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
AJ
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

OK AJ, did you have a hand vacuum pump to test with?

Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

Also looking at the combination of codes, its possible the vacuum hoses on the EGR control solenoid are backwards, Did you happen to check those?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
NO, I grounded the solenoids and the egr opened
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
The pump has 14.5 in of vacuum
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I assumed that the hoses were correct
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
when solinoids grounded the valve opened
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

OK, If you use a hose on the control solenoid, not the EGR valve, one will allow vacuum through all the time and the other will block flow. Does the one that blocks flow go to the valve or the pump?

Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

DO you have a code chart or the diagnosis for this code? If not, open the link below.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I'm going to check that now
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Bingo, the blocked port goes to pump
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
still getting closed valve reading when I switch hoses
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

OK, so it was backwards or it was not flowing at all?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I need to check vacuum on other port after switching hoses
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

At a start yes. Also do you have a scanner that reads live data? We will end up needing to follow those instructions in the chart to find the issue if the hoses are ok.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Sorry, I somehow misplaced key, looking now
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
ok, there is no vacuum from other port. But, the solenoid is opened through voltage, right ?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
We have plenty of vacuum but the solenoids do not open. I'm thinking there is an electrical issue
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

Its possible, but we need the computer to command it open, thats why we need the scanner to command it open.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I have a scanner. However, I'm not that familiar with it
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ok Cam, I just read the component section and fallowed the instructions. Unfortunately the mode is not supported
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

Ok, does your scanner show live data of anything or is it only codes?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It has live data
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

Ok, in KPA, with the engine off but key on, what does the Baro and MAP sensor read?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
No Baro, MAP is 29.8
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

Thats in KPA or in/hg?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Not familiar with KPA or HG
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Is that a setting
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

metric vs imperial.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
in hg
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

Ok, now the baro sensor. This needs to be in the data stream somewhere and it should match the map sensor reading with the engine off.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I re-checked the data. My scanner is not showing baro
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

Ok so that may be limitations on your scanner. THE baro sensor is mounted under the upper rad hose where the metal meets the rubber. Make sure there is no hose on the end of the sensor. It needs to be open to the atmosphere.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It's good
Expert:  GM Tech (Cam) replied 2 years ago.

I dont suppose you have access to a different scanner then? There are only so many things we can check without it and we are at the end of the list at the moment.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
No. I don't.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I'm leaving for 3 days early tomorrow. If I get another scanner can we finish next week
