My husband says it needs a sensor because my impala's mirror didn't have that feature

My husband says it needs a sensor because my impala's mirror didn't have that feature

.

that would be true, if the mirror was removed from another vehicle or purchased without the Temp Sensor that mounts up front

.

Let me know if you need further...........

It came from a 2010 suburban

thanks for the added info
IF the Suburban is still available, you should get the Temp Sensor from it.
There is only 2 wires going to it & IF you are not able to pull the Temp Sensor thru the Firewall or release the wires from the plug, you can always cut the wires & splice back.
Won't hurt a thing
Remove the top portion of the Grille & carefully pull forward
The Temp Sensor should be located attached to the support
