Hi, My Name is***** have over 20 years experience repairing vehicles. I am a ASE Certified Master Auto Technician. I am confident we can resolve your problem together. Please remember I don't know your skill level. I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the vehicle. It may take a few back and forth replies to get to a satisfactory resoloution.I also try to give all of the information you may need expecting a positive rating. If there is any reason I cannot get a positive rating please let me know.

I would like you to start with a relearn procedure and see if this works. I have attached the procedure.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have done the relearn process three times. The ten minute relearn three times. Then key off for twenty seconds then crank after the third session. The security light does not come on or flash at all during relearn.

I have snap on modis scanner hooked to vehicle. BCM reconises key in ignition
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Vehicle also has a good quality remote start professionally installed with pass key resistor key box wired in under dash.
Expert:  Tool Hut replied 1 year ago.

the most likely failure is the key sensor in the column. There are several ways to address. Some people replace the sensor. some bypass and some install a bypass module. It is pretty easy to bypass. You just need a resistor from radio shack and another relearn.

SO does it start with the remote start?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No start with remote either. Starts security light comes on as it dies. Remote restarts for seconds, security light again, dies over n over till tapping brake pedal to cancel remote start.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I was thinking...(could've wrong ) should have resistor installed already with remote starter installed in vehicle.
Expert:  Tool Hut replied 1 year ago.

The bypass for the remote would make it start with the remote.

So lets get back to basics. What are the codes that are in the system? CAn you communicate with the Theft deterrent module with your scanner?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I cannot communicate with theft deterrent module. One code B2961 - Key in ignition circuit malfunction
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I've unhooked remote start with no change.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'm leaning real hard towards ignition lock cylinder. Although it reads key in ignition correctly I don't think the resistance measuring part is functioning properly

I would have to agree with you. Do you a different key? Does it say PK3 on blade?
