Chevrolet Malibu LS: my 2001 Malibu 3.1 starts surging at about

Customer Question

my 2001 Malibu 3.1 starts surging at about 55mph with a loud humming noise from passenger front side. when cruise control on at this speed the loses rpm and has to downshift a gear to compensate. just replaced egr valve, but no difference.

I am sorry for the long waitare there any codes set in the computer at all ?when its making this noise if you turn to the right and then left with the steering wheel will turning the wheel to the right or left make the noise better or worse or change the noise ?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
yes, there were throttle position sensor, egr valve, and oxygen sensor. replaced tps and egr, but now code just reads egr sensor. also the loud humming or howling noise does not matter when turning left or right.

have the front hub / bearing been checked to be sure the RF hub / bearing is not causing this noise ?what is the code number it only sets now ?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
currently, code reads egr even after I replaced it with a new one. home phone 1-***-***-****

ok if you remove the O2 sensor out of the top of the back exhaust manifold near the fire wall and take it for a quick ride will the power come back ?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I did remove-unplug 02 sensor, but still have same problem of losing rpm's . overall car runs better, butstill is acting up. both front wheel bearings are fine.
