Chevrolet Silverado 1500: 2007 Chevy truck key works in ignition

This answer was rated:

2007 Chevy truck key works in ignition but not door
Hello and welcome.
Does the key go into the door lock cylinder but not turn?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

OK. Does the key seem to look like a brand new key- are the teeth very sharp and no signs of wear on the key?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes it's a gm key

OK. Try not inserting the key all the. Just a hair before it bottoms out then wiggle it and turn back and forth. Somtimes new keys are too rough for door cylinders. If it turns now, then rough up the key with a small file to correct this.

If that does not work, then most likely either the door cylinder or ignition has been replaced and the cylinders are keyed differently. The best and cheapest way to remedy this is to have the door cylinder re-keyed to match the one you have. A locksmith can do that, or a repair shop can. The door panel would need to be removed, the cylinder removed and the tumblers re-key to work with the key you have.
