2007 Chevy Impala LTZ is losing coolant; about half gallon

This answer was rated:

2007 Chevy Impala LTZ is losing coolant; about half gallon per month. (Car is used for commuting: 100 miles per day, 5 days per week.) One garage says cracked head gasket and wants $3000 to fix it. Another garage (toyota dealer where the car was bought used) says there is no leak. They did a pressure test and CO2 test. Both were negative. No warning lights, no power loss, no overheating, no visible coolant leaks. One Chevy dealership says bad intake seal. They want $1300 to fix that! Car has 90K miles on it. Could it be something as simple as just a worn out radiator cap?
yes it could be a bad ratiator/coolant cap..a bad cap would may let coolant to yes, replace the cap and give it a shot....
if you are still loosing coolant,,and there are no leaks,,,i would think it does have a blown head gasket, regardless of what the toyota dealership came up with.......though,i think the $3000 is a little high for the repair,,so you may want to check with independant mechanic shops to see if you can get a better price,,i would think around $1800 would be a good price
