2001 Chevy S10: steady speed arround45-50 mph..drops..surges..60 mph

Customer Question

I have a 2001 Chevy S10 with 2.2 L engine with automatic trans; at a steady speed arround45-50 mph the truck engine drops off then surges which gives an unsteady feeing . This happens when the engine is warm. At speeds above 60 mph I can not feel the problem.
Could the problem be in the transmission?
