Chevrolet When replacing hydraulic lifters on chevy 350 small

Resolved Question:

When replacing hydraulic lifters on chevy 350 small block, does it have to be on TDC before removing old lifters?
Also, can I turn the crank with the distributor off?

No, it doesnt matter where the crankshaft is lined up to replace them.

Yes, you can turn the engine with the dist out, but then you have to line it up to TDC before installing in back in.
