Chevrolet Silverado 1500 When replacing the EVAP canister,

This answer was rated:

When replacing the EVAP canister, does the filter box relocation have to be above the transmission?  What is the purpose of this location?
is this a crew cab?or a regular pick up ?

This link is the installation instructions for the EVAP canister for my truck. You'll need to scroll down to 2005 short bed that is mounted on rear of gas tank. What you show above is not even close. When replacing, it calls for the addition of filter box that factory canister does not have. It states to run a new hose up to and above the transmission line T-connection. My question is why the new filter box has to be run above the transmission/line.

ok i understand now.they have it mounted up above the transmission to the highest point to keep water from getting into the vent and causing water to damage the internals of it

So it could really be mounted anywhere of equivalent height. The install instructions say to actually lower and raise the transmission just to install the filter box. Sounds like overkill.
just put it up as high as you can and make sure that little line gets hooked up to the transmission little vent hose on top thats all
