Thank you for the reply. Honestly right up front for a service writer to say it is the vent solenoid in my opinion is a little premature. I would say even more common than a vent solenoid is a gas cap, if you pull the gas cap off, look at the rubber o-ring around the edge and see if it has cracks in it, if it does that is a good indicator of a bad cap. Also if the cap was left loose it can cause this code.
There is also other things that can cause this code such as a fuel tank pressure sensor, a cracked line, or a purge solenoid.
Basically if you work at a dealership they usually have an employee rate for diagnostics that would be well worth it in my opinion. There is a test that a tech can do with the scan tool called a purge and seal, and possibly a smoke machine to specifically isolate the component with the issue.
This would be money ahead in my opinion, rather than just replacing parts on a best guess. If you had it diagnosed, then you could tell me of the diagnosis and I could help you replace the component.

Sometimes we see road rocks get in there or if it is really dusty it can cause a bind, if you do not see anything obvious in the tracks, just go ahead with the timing procedure. Also as I recall on the diagram that shows # XXXXX there is 3 10mm bolts holding the motor in. Thanks and let me know.

If you have access to an air compressor you can blow the tracks out and when you disconnect the sunroof motor you can manually move the window to see if it binds when it is moved. If it feels smooth, just proceed with the timing procedure. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, and the accept. I will do some more research for you on the sunroof. I was unaware that it was in the closed position. I will ask the trim expert if he has ever ran into your symptoms of coming down crooked from vent.

Question: How were you able to get the sunroof into the closed position?

Now on to the other issue with the Silver ado. I do not think it is a head gasket just off the top of my head if the truck is not overheating. I know you said you are not seeing any leaks, so how much coolant are we talking that it is going through?
I have seen the intake gaskets leak on these both externally and internally. If it leaks externally usually you will see a trail off of the back or front of the engine, I will upload some pics tomorrow on where to look.
If the coolant is going internally, the oil will look like caramel, or milky oil. Sometimes the oil level will also be higher as the coolant enters the oil it will by nature make the level higher on the dipstick.
You mentioned a "jerk" is this issue when you are cranking the vehicle over?
The oil pressure is not bad, sure the engine is getting a few miles on it but I think at this point we need to look where the coolant is going as a higher priority.
To recap, check the oil and make sure that it is not milky. I will upload pictures on the intake places that leak tomorrow.

I talked to my trim guy and he said look very closely at the sunroof arms, he has seen them either bent or broken. I did not have a trailblazer in the shop today or else I would have taken pictures of the suspect areas for you. Let me know if nothing looks out of place and I will upload pictures with the problem areas highlighted.

On the intake gasket leak, I will upload a photo with the problem areas highlighted, the leaks will be off of the front, which are easy to see and from the rear, which are harder to see, sometimes coming from the bottom and looking up with a flashlight you can see a trail coming from off of the back of the intake, or you can use a mirror from up top to look for coolant also. Typically it will be an orange trail either wet or dry crusty. Keep me posted.

Yes the center pillar covers come off. You will have to take off the sill covers in front and back of the covers but they do come off

Hello again, The fault is mine not yours, initially I thought from the diagram the motor was up front, but after a refresher I realized the motor is at the back of the sunroof. I apologize deeply for that.
I usually do just what you are doing, pull the windshield pillar moldings and then the center support moldings. Drop the two front seats and let the headliner sag, but only enough to access the motor bolts from either side rear doors, you do not want to crease the headliner.
I probably also should have asked prior to this what you found on the inspection to see if you were able to look over the arms that actually lift the window closely, we have had those bent before.
Anyway keep me posted.

Ok next we have to separate the motor from the cables, then the window should move freely as they will not be bound by the motor.

The motor has to come apart from the cables in order to correctly time it so the cables can freely move, if i misread what you said, I apologize.
So is the motor apart from the cables and can the window be moved?

Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX I am just misreading what you are telling me. With the motor separated from the drive cables, the sunroof should move freely. You should now be able to close the sunroof to the fully closed position, then reinstall the motor and mount it and then do this. The timing actually refers to opening the window all the way, but I think if we just close it and then do this procedure it will work.

Once the motor is removed there is nothing to hold the cables stationary, the motor is what holds the cables from moving as when it is installed it is splined to the cables. So if the window is stuck and will not move, there is 2 options. Either figit with it to see if it will dislodge by trying to move it up and down or you will have to take the window off and move each track separate. There is 3 small torx screws on each side of the window. If you end up having to remove the window there is slides for the window to open to vent, I do not have any pictures on hand to show you, but let me see what I can dig up.

I do not have any pictures on hand, but as you lift up each arm that lifts the window, you will see a guide inside of the track that is attached to the arm move or slide accordingly.
I am still torn on whether to have you open it fully or close it fully. To get it to close, you would probably have to move the slides forward and the arms would follow to the fully closed position. I am still trying to find a diagram to show you.

Ouch, I was hoping there would not be a broken component. That would explain why it is always crooked as it is bound up from a broken guide. I do not think there is any components serviced separate on that thing, I think it is one whole unit.
It is # XXXXX in the diagram the part number is XXXXX you would have to verify the part # XXXXX your vin at your shop. But from HERE it is 572 it lists for 970. Or just leave it closed, which I have done before. Thoughts?

No face book either, I normally would not care but I made that mistake one time and it was not pretty.
I use drop box, you just install the program, copy the picture in to the public folder, right click it and get the public address and then drop the address to me.

Hello my friend, I talked to our trim expert today and he recognized the part right off. That is like you said a guide and unfortunately it is not serviced other than the whole assembly. So either you could try used from the site I mentioned, a wrecking yard, or break out the big bucks for a new one. So review this and let me know.

Hi, I just want to make sure we are on the same page, that guide you are speaking of does ride inside of the track correct?

Is it part of the lift arms of the window on the track?

I pulled the actual GM diagram from your vin and it looks the same I think as the one I sent you. Look it over, but like I said any hardware that is not shown separate is contained inside of the sunroof assembly, which is purchased as a whole.

Ok I pulled a trailblazer in and pulled the sunroof off and yes, that piece is part of the whole assembly. So as I expected our trim guy has never dealt with installing that piece back into the track. From the looks of it, that is what the cable hooks to, which would explain the binding as it is broke.
Thoughts?

Hello, I examined the track again and yes it looks like the track is built around the guide, you would have to take the whole thing out and then do some pretty heavy disassembly like drilling rivets and so forth to get the part in. It probably is possible but I have no experience in this nor does the other tech that does all of our sun roofs.
If you could just bypass the vent position and open and close it may work, but nothing is for sure with a broken guide.
So if you were to just put the sunroof back in on the closed position, you could try the motor training and see what happened, I would leave everything apart just in case you had to take the motor off again to sync it and leave it closed, anyway thats my 2 cents, if I come up with anything different I will let you know.
