2007 chevy: the rear tail gate wont open i..jump..relay..tailgate

This answer was rated:

i have a 2007 chev equinox and the rear tail gate wont open i have check for power there is no power at fuse in panel but if i jump power to fuse door opens like it should is there a relay for the tailgate alone and where is it located or what could be the cuase of this not opening thanks Larry

There is a relay that controls the rear hatch release. Its in the same location/area as the fuse and should be labeled LIFTGATE PCB RELAY. This relay is controlled by the Body Control Module. If the release switch does not work and the remote key fob does not work, then it may be in the BCM or the relay.

OK looked up the relay location and found its part of the fuse box and not serviceable.

There is a large black 50 terminal connector going to the fuse box. You need to check terminal 20 which is a dark green wire and terminal 9 yellow for power and ground when the switch is pressed. If these have power and ground, the internal relay is bad and the fuse box needs to be replaced. If there is no power, then the wires from the bcm or the bcm may be bad.
