Chevrolet Malibu Classic I need to replace the bearing and

I need to replace the bearing and spline shaft on the right side of the transmission on a 2004 chevy malibu classic 2.2L. where do I get parts, and do I need a special tool to pull the bearing?

Hello, unfortunatley you need a couple special tools to do this job unless you can get a regular puller from parts store with thin grab arms and maybe? grind the tips down to be able to grab the back side of the bushing. The bearing is internal to the trans and trna smust come apart to repair what is called the final drive unit. GM parts may? be able to supply the special tools but would be rare if they did. may be able to order them for you.Doing the seal only is not bad with regular tools, its getting the old bushing out and tapping new one in with seal

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the drive axle assembly.

  1. Remove the snap ring from axle.

  1. Remove the output axle seal.

  1. Use the J 41227 to remove the sleeve from the output axle.

Installation Procedure

Important: The output axle shaft sleeve and seal must be replaced together. DO NOT replace the sleeve or seal separately.

  1. Use the J 41228 to install a new sleeve on the output axle shaft. Ensure that the collet is located in the snap ring groove when installing.

  1. Install one new snap ring on the output shaft.
  2. install the drive axle assembly.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Inspect the output axle shaft sleeve for leaks.
  5. Inspect the oil level.

bushing will have to be dealer #8631119 and the output seal can be bought at most parts stores. I do not think parts stores have the bushing bu maybe
