Very sorry for the delay. They did extend the warranty on the injectors to 7 years 200,000 miles but this veihicle is already out in time. It is no secret that they have had injector issues. Mostly caused by poor quality fuel. They are extremely durable powertrains and like everything mechanical, occasionally failures occur. The problem is, when injectors go out on a duramax it can be a few thousand dollar repair. Still looking up some info

I see no major repair history for your vehicle . Only a few relatively minor issues repaired under warranty. The duramax/allison transmission combination really is a very good powertrain. The rest of the vehicle is relatively reliable. You are correct though that there is a possiblily of eventually having an injector issue. If this happens it will be costly.

Was this problem solved after the 2004 models? Should we look for a newer year?
Expert:  Bill replied 7 years ago.

They did have some issues with the 2005 models as well but not nearly as many and the labor to replace them was much less. Earlier models, to replace the injectors was a major job. They were redesigned in 05 and take a fraction of the labor to replace.

The eigth digit of the vin is your engine code. Yours is a 1. Then the redesigned version was a vin digit 2 There are several after that that they improved even more. Vin 6 and up
