i have a 2001 chevy 1500 4x4 pickup and the fuel gauge will go to empty and then back to the correct fuel level,it does it mostly when i stop but it does it when i'm moving sometimes also.could you tell me what the problem is and how to fix it and also if there is a chevy recall or service bullitin on it

Hello I will be helping you with your SIlverado. You most likely have a dtc stored in the pcm p0463. You will need a fuel level sensor. It is located in your fuel tank on the side of the fuel pump. Sorry there are no recalls on this. But a very common thing.

can you buy it seperate from the fuel pump or do you have to buy them together

You can buy it separate. I recommend a GM sensor. The quality is better! and it comes with a float
