1988 chevrolet caprice Classic: Ignition switch..column..disconnect

I have a 1988 Chevrolet Capric Classic . The Ignition switch on the column is stuke on the on possible, how to unlock it, does not shut off, have to disconnect the battery? 1- How to unlock it? 2- how to find in on the steering column , its not a tilt, 3- how to install it. Thankyou, any help will be appreciated.\

  1. Remove steering wheel as described under Horn Sounder and Steering Wheel.
  2. Remove turn signal switch as described under Turn Signal Switch, Replace, then remove buzzer switch.
  3. Place ignition switch in ``Run'' position, then remove lock cylinder retaining screw and lock cylinder.
  4. On 1987---88 Corvette, cut wire at lock cylinder assembly, then attach remaining wire extending from steering column cover to back of connector body of new lock cylinder. Pull original wire through column while feeding through new wire.
  5. On all models, install by rotating lock cylinder to stop while holding housing, Fig. 1. Align cylinder key with keyway in housing, then push lock cylinder assembly into housing until fully seated.
  6. Install lock cylinder retaining screw. Torque screw to 35 in. lbs.
  7. Install buzzer switch, turn signal switch and steering wheel.

Mark position of steering wheel in relation to shaft prior to removal to ensure correct installation.

CUSHIONED RIM WHEEL

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  2. Pry off horn button cap.
  3. Remove three spacer screws, spacer, plate and belleville spring.
  4. Remove steering wheel nut, washer and snap ring.
  5. Using a suitable puller, remove steering wheel.
  6. Reverse procedure to install.graphic
