I have a 96 Monty...
I have a 96 Monty, tail lights, all 4 side lights and dash lights don't work but headlights,brake lights and back -up lights work. Checked tail lights,bulbs are ok.

Hello, it sounds like you may have. a bad headlamp/dimmer switch assy. the portion in which controls the running lights/dsah has failed. You would first want to pull the switch and look close at it to see if any wire connection right at the switch looks like it got hot or melted a little. yes,, you could still have headlights etc but would lose just running and dash.

HEADLAMP SWITCH

Headlamp Switch (Typical)


REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

  1. Cluster trim plate by unsnapping from instrument panel.
  2. Headlamp switch by unsnapping from instrument panel.
  3. Electrical connector.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

  1. Electrical connector.
  2. Headlamp switch by snapping into instrument panel.
  3. Cluster trim plate by snapping into instrument panel. IMPORTANT: After replacing a headlamp switch due to an external short, cycle the headlamp switch and the interior light dimmer switch on and off twice to activate the internal circuit protection feature of the switch. All interior lights will not operate if the headlamp switch has not been cycled.

HI, I took out the air vent next to the switch but where do I go from here? Also I called around for the headlamp/dimmer switch assy and had prices from $78 to $128. Do you have the part #? Thanks, Larry
