2005 Chevy: 000 miles..I need to do some kind of tune up or something

Customer Question

My 2005 Chevy Equinox has 105,000 miles on it. I am sure that I need to do some kind of tune up or something to it. The plugs have never been changed. Any recommendations for the 100,000 mark?

Hello and welcome to back to Just Answer. Do you do mainly city or highway driving with your Equinox? What other maintenance has been done already?

GM recommends replacement of the spark plugs and transmission fluid at 100K miles. I would also recommend replacement of the rear differential and transfer case fluids if you have an all wheel drive model. Coolant should also be flushed at 5 yrs or 150K miles, it looks like you might be at the 5 yr mark. I also personally recommend flushing the brake fluid every 30-40k miles or 3 yrs. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts water, and moisture in the system can cause corrosion inside the brake system. With expensive anti-lock brake valves and components this is a cheap insurance policy. A good general inspection is also recommended at 100k miles, this can be done at your dealer or a reputable independent repair facility. With regular preventative maintenance your Equinox will last you many more miles.
