1991 Chevy Truck: 2WD (RWD)..speed manual transmission..part number

Resolved Question:

I have a 1991 Chevy Truck C1500 2WD (RWD) with a 4.3L engine and a 5 speed manual transmission (which went out). I need to know the exact part number for the transmission that I need. Thank you.

what is the rpo code? on a sticker in the glove box(MG5/MY2/M50)

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
That sticker ... had to be forenzically analyzed for it's been long 20 years since anyone has wiped dirt off it. The code I believe to be is (1st or second line down, just past the middle) MG5. But then again there are series of similar codes and this was the only one , I believe, that started with 'M' and had '5' as third digit. The second digit seemed like '5' also but it could well be 'G'. Thanks.

this is what alldata shows for that option trans

If the trans is rebuildable and you are doing the labor you might get a price on the cost(parts).

4 hrs to remove and replace(so you know) and about 5-6 extra to rebuild.

good luck

Do you know if the transmission is 700R4 or 4L80E or something along those lines, because you see I'm trying just to buy a rebuilt one from someone. The transmission has been taken out already. Thanks.

those transmissions are automatic, you said it was a manual and the rpo agrees.

they call it a 5 Speed, Hydramatic (MG5/MY2/M50) the rpo codes identify it.
