I have a 99 Tahoe LT. Where is the factory amp located? To the best of my knowledge, it runs the speakers in the rear passenger doors, not the front doors or the rear roof speakers. Where is it? I need to bypass it. Thanks!
Hello Patrick!
Thanks for choosing JustAnswer.
My name is Vladimir.
If you have a base audio system, then the power amplifier is located under the left of the IP, right of the brake pedal bracket. It has only one 15-way connector.

What is the IP? How much do I need to take the dashboard apart to get to the amp?
The IP word stands for Instrument Panel.
You do not have to remove the whole dash from the car.
I think you can access it by laying upside down in the driver floor board.

Got it! It was right next to the accelerator, and the 15-pin connector was at the bottom and reasonably easy to get to. I cut the wires in pairs and used barrel connectors to send the speaker signal past the amp and directly to the rear door speakers. Works great! Thank you!
You are welcome!
Good luck.
