What causes gasoline to shoot back out of the gas tank while refueling? (I have a 2004 Chevy Avalache)

This problem is usually caused by a faulty fuel tank vent valve vapor line restriction leading to the vapor canister.This is apart of the emission system of your vehicle.

Thanks John! Could you tell me where this fuel tank vent valve is located on the truck and is it difficult to replace - either due to location or process? Again, thanks for your quick reply! Been trying to figure this out for over a month now.. greatly appreciate your expertise!
