error code on 2003 chevrolet cavalier, P0440 EVAP emission

This answer was rated:

error code on 2003 chevrolet cavalier, P0440 EVAP emission control system malfunction, how do I fix so it can be inspected?

I would start by replacing the fuel cap, this is the most common cause of this code. Next in ine with be purve valve, vent solenoid, then fuel tank pressure sensor...But if the fuel cap doesnt take care of it I'd bring it to a shop with a high end scantool so they can monitor system. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.

Powertrain control module "the main computer" I'm almost sure thats not the cause......its most likely one of the things I mentioned or a leak. Let me know if you have questions.
