Does the engine have a rough idle when cold, but idles fine when warm?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
yes only idols rough for about a minute

There could be one or two issues causing this.
First, a dirty throttle body can cause a low idle, which will make it seem as if the engine is running rough. This can also cause the engine to stall at times when slowing to a stop. The throttle body should be cleaned every 30 miles on this truck to keep the idle at a normal rpm.
Second, a leaking intake gasket can cause a rough idle when cold, as the engine warms the idle becomes normal. This can also set a few codes in the engine such as a p0300, p0171 and/or p0174. This is a lean engine code which is caused by a vacuum leak on the intake gaskets. GM has had issues with these intake gaskets, they changed the design in 2006 to stop this issue. The old style gaskets stop flexing and become stiff, which causes a vacuum leak, as the engine warms, the metals expand and cause the gaskets to seal. The new gaskets stay more flexible. If you have never replaced the intake gaskets on this truck, you might start there.

ok so the fuel pump doesnt seem to be a factor? cause my fuel guage has not worked since i bought the truck.i herd these trucks are notorious for the fuel pumps. which i hope its not seeing the pump is exspencive.

The fuel pump will cause a few concerns, one is the truck will die wile driving and not restart until is cools off. It can also cause a extended crank time when starting after setting for awhile. The most common cause of the fuel gage not working properly is the fuel level sensor, which is located on the fuel pump but can be replaced separately.
