1998 chevy: u remove the drivers side airbag..steering wheel

how do u remove the drivers side airbag on a 1998 chevy s10..its in the steering wheel?

You should start by removing the 20 amp SIR fuse located in the instrument panel fuse box and let the vehicle set for 10 minutes, Pic below shows how to get the air bag off. There is a spring inside the slot shown and you need to push it one direction, be patient it can be a bit difficult.

im trying to replace the turn signal and wiper arm...i figured out u do not have to take the wheel or airbag off but the wiring...do u unconnect at the bottom of the column or can u unhook the harness at the arm(it doesnt look like u can)?

it is from the junk yard and they left the old harness attached and left about 12inches of wire and just cut the harness

The wires do not unplug at the switch they are supposed to plug in down at the lower part of the steering column, below is a pic of a complete switch.
