replacing heater core for 2000 gmc sierra 1500 4wd trk. using

replacing heater core for 2000 gmc sierra 1500 4wd trk. using a hayes service book for guidence. never done this before and i can't afford professional help. i can't seem to get to the heater core to replace, its behind trk dash. is there someone who can give advice or a web site that can show better instructions on helping me get this done? its cold here and i need to get the heat back into my trk. tx brett

Here is the procedure on dash removal. Let me know which of these steps you need help with and I can give you a step by step on each one.


  • Remove the I/P trim pad. .
  • Remove the driver side knee bolster.
  • Remove the lower I/P trim panel. .
  • Remove the passenger side air bag module.
  • Remove the radio. .
  • Remove the HVAC control.
  • Remove the accessory switch housing. .
  • Remove the left air louver housing..
  • Remove the steering column.
  • Remove the VIU, if equipped. .
  • Remove the VCU, if equipped. .
  • Remove the remote control door lock receiver module, if equipped. .
  • Remove the data link connector from the I/P. .
  • Remove the park brake release lever from the I/P.
  • Remove the I/P cluster.
  • Remove both front window air duct from the I/P assembly.
  • Remove the harness from the I/P. .
