1990 Chevy Suburban: the pick-up coil..V..distributor..mech

Resolved Question:

I want to replace the pick-up coil in my 1990 Chevy Suburban 350 V-8 distributor. Can you give me a quick "how to" do it. I am a professional mech by trade but never have performed this task as of yet. thank you very much, Warren Brandt

Hello! The entire distributor needs to come out, so you may want to remove the cap and then bump the starter so that the rotor is pointing at a spot thats easy to mark (for reinstallation purposes)

Then remove the distributor. You will need to knock the roll-pin out from the distributor gear and remove the gear. Then clean the shaft real good (you can use scotch brite or similar to remove the oil varnish) so that it will slide out of the dist. housing without getting hung up on the bushings.

Then you can swap over the pickup coil.

It appears that Just Answer is having some software issues. If my post above is jumbled with a bunch of code and doesn't show my picture, please let me know and I will see if I can correct it. Its messy on my end, just wasn't sure if it was effecting you too.
