where is the clutch adjustment on a 1989 chevy v3500 4x4 with a 454 cid mill?

Hello and welcome to JA. These vehicles were built with a hydraulic clutch system and unfortunenately are not adjustable.

so the only adjustment is a new disc? it doesn't slip. only not enough peddle when everything is hot

You can check the fluid level to make sure it is OK. Check for leaks at the clutch housing and under the front floor mat area where the clutch master cylinder rod goes through the firewall. If all that looks good then the clutch disc will need replacement. You will also need to check the clutch fork for wear at the pivot area as this can also cause a low pedal. While you have the clutch out you should also check the clutch pilot bearing.
