Welcome. The radios in the newer truck no longer use a code to unlock the radio. They need to be reprogrammed. This reprogramming learns the VIN to the radio as well as sets the options for the speakers and vehicle setup into the radio to get proper sound.

The screen on the radio says it is locked, unplugged it and it worked for a minute then said locked.

Yes, that means it needs to be programmed.
Customer: replied 8 years ago.

Do I need to take it some place for it to be reprogramed ?

The best is a dealer, and it should only take 15 mins and cost around $40.
