Water in the oil can be caused by very few things, first the most likely is a bad head gasket, or cracked head/block. Or on the camaros with the lt1 motor, some had an oil cooler which may rupture. The only way to check is to pressurize the system and carefully listen for a leak, but this will be hard to do. You could also check compression, this may indicate where the issue is.

Hope this helps! If it does please accept!
