how do I replace the brake light switch on my 94 1500?

  1. Remove the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the retainer (1) from the brake pedal pin (4) I use a long pick or a screw driver and wedge it in the retainer and bend it untill it comes loose. This normally ruins the retainer but a new one don't cost very much. Some times they will come right out without any problems
  3. unsnap the stoplamp switch (2) from the pushrod (3).
  4. Remove the wiring connector from the switch (2).
  5. .
  6. Reinstall the wiring connector to the new stoplamp switch (2) and snap the switch to the pushrod (3).
  7. Locate the switch (2) on the brake pedal pin (4) and install the retainer (1).
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.

Easy job. Just make sure the switch gets snapped back on to the booster lever. Hardest part is getting the clip off. They used 2 different kinds of clips on these trucks. One is easy the other style is a pain.
