10 blazer: chevy..jolt..i got home i put car in reverse

This answer was rated:

i have a 89 chevy s-10 blazer no reverse i was driving vehicle at about 25-30miles per hour and there was a kind of jolt but car kept moving when i got home i put car in reverse and no reverse   i never heard of reverse going while moving   forward    any ideas    thanks

Most likely the reverse input housing and drum assembly cracked at weld & therefore can be no apply to the reverse clutches. This will require tear down to inspect all parts. At this point it would be a good time to decide on a replacement transmission or repairing the original.

hi john i guess from what you are talking about i guess i will get a trans from salvage yard what is the latest year i can put in there thanks again
I think you will find you can use up to a 92 or 93 model.Usually a quick look at the shape of the transmission pan will identify the transmission.
