Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

We replaced the alternator, with much budging, but my husband got everything back together and the car still did not start. He jump started it and it worked. Decided to replace the battery as well, and car finally started. Not sure if we needed to change the alternator, maybe only needed a new battery. The old battery was 3 years old. Either way, we have a new alternator and a new battery now. How can I be sure the new alternator is working, and not just starting because we have a new battery? I want to make sure there isn't some other wiring problem.
