how often do i change the oil in a 2008 chevy impala.....owners manual says to go by the "oil life indicator in the car"

What the manufacture recommends is what you need to go by. Normal rule is if you do alot of hard driving (stop and go traffic) the you should change the oil about every 3000 miles.
