How to install CD player in 1992 Chevy S-10? I don''t have the instructions; the player I took out of my wife''s car. I''m just concerned about the wiring, if the harnesses from the Sony CD player will be compatible with those in the truck.

You should use an Adapter Plug like METRA #70-1858 Adapter Plug
You will also need the Antenna Adapter like METRA #40-GM12

Use of the Adapter is wire for wire color & hard to make a mistake.
Wal-Mart apprx $12.50 or less

If you decide to hard wire it (not advisable) here is the wiring colors:
NOTE: Be careful. There is duplicate color wires with different functions
BROWN, YELLOW, GRAY & damage can occur

Constant 12V+ Orange
Switched 12V+ Yellow
Ground Black
Illumination Gray
Dimmer Brown
Front Speakers:
Left Front (+) Tan
Left Front (-) Gray
Right Front (+) Light Green
Right Front (-) Dark Green
Rear Speakers:
Left Rear (+) Brown
Left Rear (-) Yellow
Right Rear (+) Dark Blue
Right Rear (-) Light Blue

Nope, I won't be hard-wiring it. So should this Metra adapter plug take care of all the wires coming from the CD player, and match them up with those from the truck? And why is the antenna adapter needed? I thought antenna plugs were pretty much standard sized. Is the ground wire included among those in the harness? Any other wires I might come across that I should do something with? Thanks.
If you have a Factory Radio & Antenna, it uses a 8mm plg & Aftermarket uses standard Antenna plug = adapter needed
Yes, adapter plug should be wire color for wire color on your Sony, unless it is a number of years old.
There will be some wires on the Adapter Plug that may not be needed:
Dimmer, Power Antenna, etc.

But if you have problems, post back here & I will help you

Thanks. I'll let you know. The Sony, by the way, is about 6-7 years old. Might that pose a problem?

The normal colors for aftermarket radios is
Purple & Purple Black
Green & Green Black
White & White Black
Gray & Gray Black

If your Sony has those colors, there won't be a problem with the adapter plug matching
