This answer was rated:

I have a 2005 Chevy Impala and there is a strong gas smell inside and under the hood but nothing is on the ground. Any Idea what may need to be replaced and is this a frequent problem
Hello and welcome. What engine size is in your impala?
Customer: replied 9 years ago.
3400 v6

OK, thanks. What you will need to do is follow the fuel lines that go to the fuel rail under the upper intake manifold and look for a leak. The lines go into the dr. side of the fuel rail. Some things that i have seen leaking are the fule pressure regulator, and ave had a few injectors leaking on this engine. Remove the vacuum line from the regulator (1) and smell for gas. Look under the upper intake manifold and you can see each injector(2). Look for wetness on each, or stains from evaporated fuel.
