1972 Chevy Chevelle Malibu: V8..the spark plugs and wires..cap…

Customer Question
I have a 1972 Chevy...
I have a 1972 Chevy Chevelle Malibu 4-door 350 V8. When I was changing the spark plugs and wires, the wires could have possibly got mixed up when i replaced them. I was just wondering what the firing order is, or which place each wire connects to on the distributer cap?

Hi Chevizzle,

The firing order is 18436572.

Does the motor have breaker points or electronic ignition? #1 on a breaker points ignition is at 6:30 on the clock face looking at the motor from the front of the car. It is at 5:30 for an electronic ignition distributor.

Here is an article I wrote on setting up the firing order for a Chevy SB. I has a graphic to make things easier.
