2001 Chevy Suburban: idles..air conditioning..surge..intermittantly

Resolved Question:

2001 Chevy Suburban idles poorly with air conditioning turned on, and engine warm. Idle seems to rythymically surge between 100 and 500 rpm. This behavior is happens intermittantly. Suburban has electronically controlled throtle.

They this first,remove the air duct to the throttle body,Have some one turn the key on and hold the gas pedal to the floor.Then clean all the carbon off of the throtte plate and bore.Do it in less the 2 minutes .Use a good carb cleaner-preferable a foaming cleaner and a tooth brush then wipe it clean. Reassemble and try it.

Reply to frank's Post: Are you saying that the engine should be running? Or will the key in the "on" position just move the throttle plate for me to clean around the throttle body? Will carb cleaner damage any of the sensors such as the TPI?

Egine off key of-thay way when the gaspedal is depressed the throttle goes wide open so its easier to clean.Your cleanning inside,not outside the throttle body. You will have to scrubb it clean.
