Have a Samsung Rugby phone several years old, battery died,

Customer Question

Have a Samsung Rugby phone several years old, battery died, bought another exact battery for the phone but it WON'T charge. What could keep the phone from charging with a new battery?
JA: How old is the phone?
Customer: Let me see if I can find something to identify it
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: It's a Samsung Rugby III and I would say about 6 years old?
JA: Anything else you want the Phone Expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I haven't tried anything except to install the new battery and it's doing the same thing as the OLD battery did. Plug it in and it starts to charge, then hours later it's not charging and it has NOT CHARGED THE PHONE - it still shows NO BARS colored as it does when it's fully charged

Have you tried using a different charger?

If it won't charge using a different charger then either the battery is defective (unlikely) or the phone has a fault.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
