why can I receive calls and text messages and I can make calls but can't send out text messages on my pantech c810 dual slide

Can you tell me what happens when you try to make a call or send a message please?

it says :
the following errors occured while sending and receiving messages:
your text message cannot be sent

Can you hold the power button on the phone till you see a menu and choose power off.

Then when its off, power it on and try to send a message

Tell me if it then sends please.

Can you go to Settings, Applications.

Swipe to the list All and locate Messages.

Press it and press Clear Cache (Not data)

then locate Google Services Framework, press it and press Clear Data.

Restart the phone and tell me if it will now send please.

You skipped the steps

go to Settings, Applications.

Swipe to the list All and locate Messages

i went to settings and a list of 9 items comes up
phone,sounds profiles, home screen,clock,connections,security,remove programs,ppower management and o for more

ok, the phone has an older firmware on it, hence why you do not have the option.

If you make a new message as opposed to replying, and send it, does it send?

ok, can you remove the SIM card from the phone

Rub it on your sleeve and then put it back in the phone and turn on the phone and send a text.

ok, we will need to reset the phone.

This is going to remove all data and return the phone to new, but we cannot avoid this sorry.

To do the reset

  1. open in phone's Dialer by pressing the green Call key.
  2. Type in dialer code and confirm it again pressing Call key: *01763*737381#
  3. Device has to reboot, it should take around 30 seconds so wait patiently.

Then set it up again and try to send a text.

what is dialer code. Is that the numbers you sent?

its the code I gave you in bold, you dial it like dialing a call as per the instructions please.

you need to dial it like you are dialing a phone number and ensure you use also the special symbols at the start, middle and end that I indicated please.

ok strange, but try this way please

  1. From the Home screen, press Start (left soft key).
  2. Select Settings and press OK.
  3. Scroll to Security and press OK.
  4. Select Master Clear and press OK.
  5. Enter code. The default code is 0000 or 1234.

Then setup the phone again
