Hi, I'm Dr Rebecca, a small animal veterinarian with 30 years of practice experience. I am happy to assist you in any way I can today, I am a pet owner first and foremost and understand how concerning it is when they are sick. I’m not able to make a diagnosis or prescribe medication for your pet, but I am happy to answer any questions that I can and help you determine of there is something we can do for your pet at home or if it would be wise to visit with your “in person” veterinarian. Please allow me a few minutes to respond to your questions- typing and in some cases doing some research or calculations can take a few minutes. Remember I am not seeing your pet, so you are my eyes and hands- please read my questions carefully and answer them as thoroughly as you can, as the relevance of the information I can give you is directly related to how accurately you answer my questions. The app will ask if you prefer a phone call; you do not have to accept this if you would rather communicate here. I am currently available for phone consults if you prefer. Be aware that if you have a robokiller app on your phone or are outside the US calls may not be able to go through. If you do want to request a phone call, it is best to tell me on the chat first as once you request it I only have a few minutes to see it and respond or it will lock me out of the chat and send you to another expert.
How is Cheese feeling? Is he eating and acting normally?
Does the area look swollen at all? Is there any pus or drainage or just a dry scab?
You can send a pic if you like. It sounds like that is going to be normal; typically with cat neuters we don't close the incisions but leave them to heal open; sometimes a bit of a scab will form. Typically it will fall off on its own once he is healed totally.
That looks fine; it looks like it is healing well. No worries!
Yes, it will take care of itself. If he is wearing a cone you can stop with that now.
You are most welcome!
I hope I’ve been able to help you today. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. If I can help you in the future feel free to ask for me by putting for Dr. Rebecca in the first line, or you can add me to your favorites on your My Questions page. I hope Cheese continues to have an uneventful recovery! Have a good rest of your day.
