Customer: Guinea pig injury
JA: I'll do all I can to help. Can you tell me a little more about the guinea pig's situation? How long has this been a concern?
Customer: She jumped out of the sink yesterday when i was washing her, about 3 feet tall. She is eating and moving normal, but her lip was cut and there was bleeding for a second.
JA: How badly is the guinea pig bleeding?
Customer: It was just a tiny cut she bit her lip when she jumped off, no other bleeding. I checked her teeth they are intact, but i am not sure about below the gum line.
JA: And what's the guinea pig's name and age?
Customer: Her name is***** and she is bit more then one year old
JA: Is there anything else the Vet should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: No

Here is a footage on pet cam after the fall, she appears to be moving and eating normal, but it is hard to tell any soft tissue trauma or internal injury
Customer
i want to avoid going to the vet if possible, since i am worried that the trip will stress her out more and cause issue when it is not necessary

Thank you. I have received your video and reviewed it. I cannot see the cut on her lip that you mentioned. Is she limping at all? Did she hit the floor after the jump?

Customer
She jumped and landed on the foot. Did not make a sound and she immediately ran away to hide behind the trash can. I had to get her out and continue shower, she was still struggling and trying to jump out afterwards. Her lip cut is no longer visible since the bleeding stopped quite immediately.
Customer
She has done the same thing six months ago, and she seemed perfectly fine after so i did not take her to the vet
Customer
she was also eating immediately afterward. I let her dry in a towel and offered her cilantro she immediately ate all of them
Customer
she does not appear to be limping, but she could be hiding her injury, she is not coming out of the hides as much, but i cannot tell if it is from nervousness or pain. I have seen her walk around and she is more cautious but normally moving her foot and i saw her itch her belly with it too

Thanks so much. Based on what you've shared, it sounds like she is more than likely going to be just fine. If she were injured we should be seeing symptoms by now in the form of not wanting to eat, vocalizing in pain, not walking, limping, etc. Since she has none of these symptom and she is active and eating, I would simply watch her for the time being. If she should start having symptoms anytime in the next 24 hours or so, I would plan to see a vet but so far it sounds like she's more than likely going to be just fine.

Customer
Thank you so much

I would strongly recommend moving to bathing her in a bath tub so that she is closer to the floor and less likely to be able to jump out of an elevated sink. She's been lucky to make it through two tumbles without injury. We often see bro***** *****mbs from this type of injury.

I will also be available if you become concerned at any time that she may need to see a vet. Just reply back if you have concerns.

I do want to make sure that we will both be leaving this interaction feeling like we’ve addressed your concern effectively. Would you say that you are comfortable with the next steps we’ve established together? If not, please let me know how I can best assist you. Our chat does not end until you’re completely done asking questions on this topic.

Hello again, JACustomer. This is a courtesy message. I’m just dropping in to see how things are going and to see if you have any questions that have developed. I’m just a message away if you need any additional support.
