My question is rather lengthy not going through. A year agoA year ago my 9 year old cat threw up multiple times and quit eating. Her sister of same age threw up once a month for about a day every 4 weeks or so. The sister, Shadow had a throwing up attack that lasted 5 days same time this cat, Gracie quit eating for days. Brought them both in, Shadow did not show pancreatitis but Gracie had a marginal snap test positive result for pancreatitis and a mild bladder infection. It passed, no problems for a year. However shortly after it started to pass Gracie's water intake went up significantly, again this was January 2017. It later dropped in the spring and nothing out of the ordinary. This month in MN we have exteme cold again and Gracies water intake skyrocketed. For awhile like 9 trips to water bowl. We brought her in, check on pancreatitis blood test was normal. She did show a low grade bladder infection. They gave her shot of Convenia. They also sent urine off for analysis for culture, as with last year they could not find anything to culture and said either died in transit or none present. This year Gracie also showed a little high level for hyperthyroid a level of 12, they said not extreme and think we are catching it early so want to put her on med for it. She was a very active cat but last few days, especially since Convenia shot been lethargic. Water intake is down slightly but weather warmed up too.I am not convinced this somewhat high thyroid test is reason, her coat is fine and normal, and after vet visit and Convenia shot if anything she been lethargic. They did full blood work up and everything was normal. One last thing, when she got sick last year here was a swelling on her eyebrow, and it went away when she was better. Same thing again this year, vet doesn't know what to make of that.A difficult case but I imagine this is something unusual. But isn't it odd that though she is not throwing up and eating just fine, that the water intake goes up super high again when it gets very cold and dry. As I said her activity was fine until after getting the shot, could that make her lethargic and if so how long? cat … read more
